Marko Mišmaš has been serving as the Director of the Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia (AKOS) since 2023. His extensive professional background is rooted in over two decades of industry experience. Prior to his role at AKOS, the incoming BEREC Chair 2026 held various positions in telecommunications, smart metering, and the automotive industries, most recently as R&D Director in the private company Iskra Mehanizmi and before that as R&D Director in the company Iskraemeco. Marko Mismas holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana. Mr. Marko Mišmaš is the Director of AKOS, the Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia, since June 2023. His career spans over two decades of leadership and innovation in telecommunications, smart electricity metering, and the automotive industry.In addition to his role as Director of AKOS, for the past 10 years, Mr. Mišmaš has also served as a nonprofessional member of the AKOS Council, which acts as a supervisory body for the agency. Prior to his current role, Mr. Mišmaš held several key positions as R&D Director at notable companies, including Iskra Mehanizmi, d.o.o., Iskraemeco, d.d., Iskratel, d.d. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ljubljana, which he earned in 1997. He further pursued a Master's Degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the same institution, graduating in 2001.
